Name:

    UseAbsoluteRightMargin

Syntax

    UseAbsoluteRightMargin=Value

Applies to:

    Workstations

Add-on:

    First Release:

      5.0.9

    Obsolete since:

      Category:

        RichText, UI Control

      Default:

        None

      UI equivalent:

        None

      Description:
Allows user to control right margins in documents created.

Text wraps differently in Notes R5 Client and Notes 6.0 Cilent versus Notes R4 Client. For example, when a document in an application created in Notes 4.5x or 4.6x Client is accessed through a Notes 5.x or 6 Client, the document's right margin prints at a different spot (pushed to the left) than when printed from the Notes 4.5x/4.6x Client. The document will not display to the full width of the Notes window and will print out with narrower margins than expected.

This issue was reported to Lotus Software Quality Engineering and was addressed in Notes 5.0.9 Client and Notes 6 Client. Please note that this particular fix does not encompass the margins used by Tables. This issue is being researched by Lotus Quality Engineering. In Notes 5.0.11 Client a setting in addition to the 5.0.9 fix was added. See the second "Note" below.

Note: In addition to upgrading to Notes 5.0.9 Client a Notes.ini parameter must be set in order for the changes to take effect. The Notes.ini parameter is UseAbsoluteRightMargin=1. This forces Notes to use an Absolute Right margin value. If there was no Right margin set then a 100% Relative margin is used.

Note: In Notes 5.0.11 Client an additional value setting was added. When UseAbsoluteRightMargin=2 is set in the Notes.ini, then Notes ignores the document's Right margin and uses the default Right margin of 100% relative.

      ValueDescription
      0
      (default)
Work the same as in Notes 5.0. Use relative values by converting the right margin value to a percentage.
      1

Use Absolute values. Right margins set in pre-R5 versions of Notes will be taken as an Absolute value. This will ensure that printing documents will be exactly as in pre-R5 versions

      Introduced in Notes 5.0.9
Note: There have been reports that this parameter fails in Notes 5.0.10 and later 5.x releases as well as in Notes 6.0.
      2
Ignore the right margin values. Force the use of the default Right margin of 100% Relative.

Introduced in Notes 5.0.11 and Notes 6.0.
